Overview
The Controller oversees the company's financial operations, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting, and provides leadership to finance and accounting teams. This role supports the company’s financial health and strategic objectives through timely analysis, regulatory compliance, and adherence to accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE. Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial reporting standards and regulations.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the organization.
- Coordinate and manage the external audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Develop and maintain documentation for internal controls over financial reporting.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of financial information and reports.
- Implement and maintain effective internal control systems. Ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Analyze financial results, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Develop productive, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides leadership and strategic direction to the Financial reporting Team. Supervising and managing a team. Oversee activity and assignments of Financial reporting Team members.
- Manages the hiring and performance of staff.
- Coordinate with other departments to gather, analyze, and verify financial information.
- Provide guidance and support to the finance team on complex accounting issues and new accounting standards.
- Cross-train and provide back-up support.
- Weekly payroll processing and government remittances
- Monthly, quarterly and annual government remittances and statistical filings
- Lead and participate in other department projects as required.
- Identify, develop, and implement projects to improve service quality, relationships, stakeholder satisfaction, timeliness, staff capability and performance. Maintain and improve financial reporting systems and processes.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment would be preferred.
- Highly developed attention to detail to ensure accurate, efficient order process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge to and compliance of relevant safety standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of company policies.
