Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety and efficiency while transporting materials and goods across various routes. This role requires proficiency in operating different types of trucks and trailers, ensuring safe and timely deliveries, and maintaining compliance with all transportation regulations, adhering to traffic laws and regulations. Sioux Center Drivers play a crucial role in the supply chain, connecting manufacturers, distributors, and consumers.

Responsibilities

  • Transport Goods and Materials: the central duty is operating a tractor-trailer to deliver goods and materials around North America. This requires both the ability to successfully and safely operate and maneuver a large commercial vehicle and a high level of physical and mental stamina due to the long hours of work, typically making deliveries and pickups on a strict schedule.
  • Plan Routes and Schedules / Coordinate Activities with Dispatch: working with the Logistics Manager and using GPS technology, have the ability to outline routes and determine the number of kilometers that can be covered in a day. As part of this process, one needs to consider factors such as weight limits, hazardous materials regulations, weather and traffic.
  • Maintain Driving Records: ability to maintain detailed records of both materials picked up and delivered, tolls paid and additional expenses incurred while traveling.
  • Inspect and Maintain Vehicles: ability to inspect and maintain vehicles prior to driving, while on the road and after making deliveries. This includes ensuring materials are securely loaded, conducting regular maintenance, inspections and emergency repairs. One must report any accidents or delays to their supervisor and keep detailed records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure the truck remains safe and legal to operate (outside of scheduled maintenance under the care of the Logistics Manager).
  • Load and Strap the equipment/goods on the trailers following safety laws and maximizing efficiency. Identify and report shipping damage to the logistics manager
  • Adhere to FMCSA and all other road transportation regulations, including completing all logs, ELD entry and paperwork required for DOT compliance
  • Provide input for backhaul opportunities
  • Possible 11-14 hour days and occasional weekends.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in driving manual transmission vehicles.
  • Minimum 3 years Commercial CDL A Driving Experience
  • Physically capable of loading/unloading heavy equipment and skids of product
  • Experience strapping loads and knowledge of legal requirements for strapping
  • Knowledge, training and experience to organize and perform work activity
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and ability to follow-up on unsafe conditions
  • Familiarity with actual or potential health and safety hazards in the workplace
  • Complete onboarding, inspection and equipment logs and accidents reports,
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company policies and procedures,
  • Willingness to use protective gear,
  • Ability to give attention to detail
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Must possess strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate skills to include ability to maintain organized documents
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills
  • Ability to utilize material safety data sheets and apply Workplace Hazardous Material Safety Information and training
  • Qualifications:
  • Commercial Drivers License class A and clean driving record
  • Clean Clearinghouse record
  • License with no restrictions
  • Drivers Safety Test
  • DOT pre-employment physical and screening
  • Participate in mandatory pre-employment, random, post accident and post incident Alcohol and Drug Testing
  • Participate in skill set and safety training as determined by Management
