Job Brief

The Inventory Control Clerk / Cycle Counter is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the integrity of stock levels within the warehouse or service shop environment.

This role focuses on performing regular cycle counts, reconciling inventory discrepancies, maintaining accurate system records, and supporting efficient inventory management to meet operational and customer needs. The Inventory Control Clerk works closely with the warehouse team, Parts department, and regional management to ensure accurate tracking, organization, and availability of inventory.

Role Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular cycle counts according to established schedules to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Count and record quantities of parts, materials, and supplies in designated inventory areas.
  • Compare physical inventory counts against system records and investigate discrepancies.
  • Update inventory records and adjustments to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Accurately enter cycle count data and other inventory-related information into the inventory management system.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date inventory records for operational and audit purposes.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report low-stock or overstock situations to supervisors.
  • Inspect inventory during cycle counts for damage, obsolescence, or quality concerns.
  • Work closely with the Parts Sales Desk, Shipping and Receiving teams, and regional inventory managers to coordinate inventory movements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, including misplaced items, incorrect shipments, and data-entry errors.
  • Prepare and submit reports related to cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and identified issues.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, and other warehouse equipment as required and where properly certified.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse or stockroom.
  • Participate in periodic full inventory audits and physical inventory counts.
  • Identify and suggest opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, organization, and cycle-counting processes.
  • Process incoming shipments and support general inventory control functions under the direction of the Inventory Control Supervisor.
  • Follow established inventory procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Basic math and reading skills required to accurately manage inventory and work orders.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks; forklift certification is an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand, bend, walk, and move for extended periods.

Academic and Trades Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, parts, or inventory environment is an asset.
