Job Summary:

The General Labourer plays a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, product quality, and safety within the facility. This position involves performing general production support, surface preparation, equipment testing, mechanical fitting, and routine maintenance tasks.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform surface preparation on metal parts and assemblies using enclosed shot blasting equipment.
  • Execute bench testing on blowers, monitoring functional performance metrics and accurately capturing test data.
  • Perform basic machining tasks and operate roller equipment to straighten and correct deformities in metal materials.
  • Fit, adjust, and replace airlock tips to ensure proper mechanical tolerances and airtight seals.
  • Perform basic cleaning, inspection, and maintenance tasks on machines and tools to ensure proper functioning.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards, including sweeping floors and disposing of process waste.
  • Follow safety procedures and consistently use required personal protective gear to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Safely operate hand tools, machine tools, and other basic shop equipment when required.
  • Assist with logging, tagging, and tracking materials, products, and completed testing tasks.
  • Perform other operational duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements:

  • Experience operating hand tools, shop machinery, and enclosed shot blasting equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of how equipment works and how to maintain,troubleshoot, and adjust machinery and testing rigs.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards, proper PPE usage, and the ability to identify and report unsafe conditions.
  • Willingness to consistently wear required protective gear in a shop environment.
  • Ability to attain precise standards, follow detailed work instructions, and maintain tight mechanical tolerances.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and accurately log technical performance data.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a group.

Physical requirements:

  • Range or Motion: ability to climb, walk, squat, kneel and perform above shoulder height activity.
  • Work in various weld positions (flat and vertical planes, overhead).
  • Lift from floor to waist.
  • Lift from waist to shoulder and above shoulder height a maximum of 40 lbs.
  • Work in various temperatures, cold and heat.
  • Ability to work with or around chemicals.
