Product Designer

The Product Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing innovative mechanical systems and structures for Walinga’s feed trailers and pneumatic conveying systems. This role works closely with Sales and Production to ensure equipment meets performance standards, manufacturing requirements, and customer expectations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Complete mechanical designs for major projects.
  • Produce detailed designs and drawings for use by production staff.
  • Perform calculations and analysis on equipment as required.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Production teams across the ETE and PCS divisions to develop equipment that meets or exceeds customer requirements.
  • Create technical documentation to communicate upcoming product and design changes to Production, Sales, and Service teams.
  • Improve production efficiency and reduce overhead through effective, manufacturable designs.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably PTC Creo or similar.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality mechanical designs that exceed customer expectations.

Academic and Trades Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering; or
  • Engineering Technologist diploma.
